Don Mariano bus owner’s family owns 5 other lines

After one of the buses owned by Don Mariano Transit Corp. figured in the Skyway crash on Monday, Dec 16, authorities have scrutinized the bus line and its owner, Melissa Lim. The entire Don Mariano fleet is currently suspended.

“On Wednesday, Dec 18, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Winston Ginez disclosed that Lim’s family owns five other bus companies,” reports Jaime Sinapit of InterAksyon.com.

In his dzMM interview, Ginez named the following bus lines: “Fermina Express, Mencorp, Commuters, Nova Auto Transport, and Roval Transport.” The five lines collectively operate a total of 420 buses.

The InterAksyon.com report added: “A document from the Securities and Exchange Commission showed Melissa Lim is majority owner and president of Don Mariano and Fermina Express while a certain Dalmacio Lim is vice-president and Anita, Alexander and Christopher Lim are directors.”

Ginez further explained that their records show “Don Mariano, Nova Auto Transport, and Roval Transport are among the bus firms with the most number of fatal accidents in the recent past.”
