Mercy and compassion are great, but those who didn’t do their job well should take responsibility for the mishap that happened.

“The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Mon, Jan 19, said it will investigate the scaffolding accident that killed the 27-year-old volunteer of the Catholic Relief Service during the Papal visit in Tacloban City last Jan 17,” reports Jet Villa on InterAksyon.com.

DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said her office “will find out who is responsible for the scaffolding and if the scaffolding complied with safety and health regulations.”

“If you ask DOLE, the issue is safety and health. But we have to wait for the result of the police investigation before we can take the necessary action,” she explained.

Thye report noted: “Strong winds caused by storm Amang was believed to have caused the scaffolding bearing a huge speaker to topple over, falling over Kristel Padasas after a mass celebrated by Pope Francis at the Daniel Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City last Saturday.”

Pope Francis met with Padasas’ father, Paulino, to comfort him. The pontiff also gave him three rosaries and two medallions of Sto. Nino.
