DOLE lifts deployment ban to Thailand

Thailand is open to OFWs again.

“Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz has announced that the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Governing Board had issued a resolution paving the way for the resumption of the processing and deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFW), both vacationing and new hires, to Thailand,” reports Jet Villa on InterAksyon.com.

Baldoz explained that the move effectively lifts the total deployment ban of Filipino workers to Thailand.

The report noted: “On January 23, DFA raised the Crisis Alert Level 2 specifically for Bangkok, Nonthaburi Province, Lad Lun Kaew District (Pathumthani Province) and Bang Phli District (Samutprakan Province) in view of the declaration of a 60-day state of emergency due to the escalating civil unrest and insecurity in the said areas, which was subsequently lowered. The deployment ban was once again issued on 21 May, after the DFA raised anew Crisis Alert Level 2 after the Martial Law declaration by the Thai army.”
