DOJ Secretary denies giving Vhong “special treatment”

Do you think they’d do this for the rest of us, too?

“Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima is defending the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which is being criticized for allegedly giving undue priority to the assault case of TV host Vhong Navarro,” reports Camille Diola on Philstar.com.

In her interview on ABS-CBN’s brand new show, Aquino and Abunda Tonight, De Lima explained, “(There’s) no special treatment. Ginawa lang naman ng NBI, just one of those cases na inimbistegahan nila. Nagkaroon ng mabilis na resulta (The NBI did what they would normally do for all other cases. They got quick results).”

So far, as the report detailed, “the NBI has filed six criminal complaints against the group of businessman Cedric Lee and model Deniece Cornejo for the mauling and alleged extortion of Navarro, who is a talent of ABS-CBN.” Cornejo has likewise filed a rape complaint against Navarro.

The DOJ has consolidated the complaints filed by both camps.
