Finally something from the government!
According to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, she’s already ordered the NBI to verify the abduction allegations of several Iglesia ni Cristo ministers.
This comes two days after Felix Nathaniel “Angel” Manalo and Cristina ‘Tenny” Manalo appearing on that video, was uploaded on YouTube Wednesday. As we now know, the two were asking for help because their lives were in danger.
The media had a field day on Thursday, as things over at INC kind of spiraled out of control.
“De Lima clarified that the NBI’s probe would only be ‘initial as it would later decide whether to switch to a formal investivation,”reports Mark Merueñas on GMA Network.com.
Why only an ‘initial’ investigation you may ask? Because they only have the YouTube video as basis.
INC General Evangelist Bienvenido Santiago on Thursday dismissed the accusations against the INC.
Quezon City policemen went to the INC compound on Thursday, and though they were prevented from entering, “they later on declared that there was no abduction in the compound.”
Continues the report: “As to the allegations of corruption within the church, De Lima said the government would take a hands off policy unless a private complainant decides to press charges.”
She did, however say, “There’s a whole gamut of possible criminal offense.”
In any case, it seems like De Lima doesn’t know of the press conference where ex-Pasugo editor Isaias Samson Jr., alleged that the abductions were real.
