Nothing like a bomb threat to disrupt everything.
“Employees and officials of the Department of Justice (DOJ) were forced to evacuate their offices in Manila on Wednesday, January 28, due to a supposed bomb threat,” reports Ina Reformina on ABS-CBNnews.com.
DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima was not in the DOJ compound when the supposed bomb threat was received.
The report noted: “DOJ officials and security personnel who responded to the bomb threat have not yet given details on the threat, but text messages independently received by ABS-CBN News said a bomb will explode at the DOJ unless Justice Secretary Leila de Lima restores the visitation privileges at the maximum compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).”
The report recalled that “relatives of Bilibid inmates have for the past days been complaining about the suspension of the visitation rights in the wake of an explosion inside the national penitentiary.”
Bomb experts and National Bureau of Investigation personnel were deployed to the DOJ compound to look for any bomb or explosives. Their search turned out negative and DOJ employees were later cleared to go back to their offices.
