Further in the war against dengue: The Department of Health-National Capitol Region went to Avenida Rizal in Manila on Wednesday to spray and disinfect bus terminals there.
According to DOH-NCR, the terminals of Philippine Rabbit Bus Co., Genesis Transport Inc, Bataan Transit, Five Star Bus Co., Saulog Transit, Candon Bus Liner, Santrans, and various minibus companies were treated with anti-dengue spray.
“It will be repeated again after two weeks to ensure that there will be no new mosquitoes will emerge. It will be monitored and evaluated after three cycles to determine its success,” regional director Eduardo Janairo said.
DOH-NCR also reminded bus operators to clean their terminals “especially in areas where dengue mosquitoes frequent such as comfort rooms, open canals and open garbage containers, over tarpaulins on roofs and gutters and under kitchen sinks.” Janairo said cleaning out mosquito breeding sites is the most efficient way to prevent the spread of dengue.
The DOH recorded 3,629 dengues cases in Metro Manila between January and July this year, with most cases reported in Quezon City. Nine people have already died from dengue this year.
