DOH reports 6 new Zika cases in PH

The Department of Health (DOH) revealed that they have identified six new Zika virus infections in the country — four cases in Iloilo, one in Cebu City, and one in Laguna.

“Based on initial information, the four new cases in Iloilo is not connected to the earlier reported Zika cases in the area, as the areas in question are more than 10 kilometers apart,” reports Rappler.

Health assistant secretary Eric Tayag pointed out in an ABS-CBN News report that, so far, this brings the total of confirmed Zika virus cases this year to nine.
