The number is alarming.
“The Department on Health reported 393 new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases in April this year,” reports the Philippine News Agency on InterAksyon.com.
The report said that the new cases “brought to 18,341 the total number of HIV cases from 1984 to 2014 of which 16,661 (91 percent) were asymptomatic and 1,680 ( nine percent) were full-blown Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrom (AIDS) cases.”
The report revealed that “from January to April 2014, there were a total of 44 deaths.” For April, there were seven deaths reported.
