This is a painful announcement, but it’s necessary.
“On Saturday, Nov 16, the Department of Health (DOH) appealed for at least 20 volunteer-embalmers to help foreign experts in handling hundreds of cadavers in areas that were hit by Typhoon Yolanda,” reports Jet Villa on InterAksyon.com.
According to DOH Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag, the embalmers “will not be made to do embalming, however, but to help forensic experts in tagging, handling, and identifying the bodies.” Embalmers who respond to the call will be provided fare by the DOH. It would be better if they are also from Eastern Visayas, though.
Interested volunteer-embalmers may contact the DOH Hotline 711-1001 and 711-1002.
