President Rodrigo Duterte made a bit of a cameo appearance on “The Simpsons.”
A cartoon version of the Philippine chief executive was featured in an episode titled “Mueller Meets Trump,” released Thursday.
In the episode of the hit American TV series, a framed photo of US President Donald Trump and Duterte posing in the traditional ASEAN Summit handshake could be seen hanging on the wall.
The caricature was inspired by the awkward handshake between the two leaders in Manila last month.
The Simpsons episode proved that the Philippines successfully hosted the 31st ASEAN Summit and that Duterte made an impact on the international stage, said Presidential Communication Secretary Martin Andanar.
“President Donald Trump was beside other leaders, not just President Duterte. The fact that President Duterte was the one featured means that he made an impression on the artist. We are happy they did that because it only shows that our ASEAN hosting was successful,” he told dzMM.
