Does NAIA-1 look better now?

The folks at Malacañang Palace recently announced on their official Facebook page that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 or NAIA 1 now looks significantly better than ever.

The following improvements were pointed out:

1. new check-in counters

2. air conditioning working well

3. better lighting

There are also new main flight information display boards, feeder conveyors, and weighing scales.

While some people say NAIA-1 can still get pretty crowded, it’s definitely not as bad as it was before.

Up until 2013, NAIA-1 was consistently named the worst airport in the world. While it didn’t get the top dishonor last year, NAIA-1 still figured in such lists.

Authorities finally heard and took note. In early 2014, they began the airport’s PHP1.14 billion-rehabilitation plan early last year.

Of course It always helps that NAIA boasts of honest employees like this porter, who returned some USD4,800 that an OFW left behind; and this janitor who ran after a British tourist who left his pouch at the bank. And this employee, and another one!

With the ongoing rehabilitation plus the honest employees, we’re sure it won’t take long before NAIA-1 gets in on the best airports list. It’s a long shot, but hey. We’re on it.
