DMCI, the contractor of the seven-kilometer Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Expressway, on Tuesday said it cannot complete the project in time for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in November.

DMCI chief executive Jose Isidro Consunji said the firm is still trying to resolve some right-of-way issues.

The four-lane, elevated expressway and 2.2-km at-grade feeder road will provide access to NAIA Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

It will also connect to the Skyway system, the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex), and the Entertainment City.

The phase linking NAIA-1 and 2 to the Entertainment City was supposed to have been completed in April, but was later deferred to October in time for the APEC Leaders’ Summit in November.

DMCI was tapped as contractor by San Miguel Corp., which won the bidding in 2013.

For the first half of the year, DMCI posted a net income of PHP6.6 billion, 28% higher than the PHP5.1 billion posted in the same period last year. (from a report from Michelle Ong, ANC)
