DMCI is said to be conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident that happened Monday afternoon, March 23. Seven private vehicles were damaged as a girder launcher at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Skyway construction project fell and caused debris to fall on the vehicles.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. However, power lines were also hit by the girder launcher, which caused blackouts in certain areas.

In a statement, DMCI said, “We are conducting clearing operations in the area to make the roads passable to vehicular traffic. We have also sent additional equipment to expedite the clearing of the affected areas. We will coordinate with the owners of the damaged vehicles to facilitate their insurance claims. We regret the inconvenience this incident has caused the motorists in the area.”

The incident caused heavy traffic in the area, which is one of the major thoroughfares leading to NAIA. On Tue, Mar 24, it was announced that the area is once again passable. Consequently, many people who were catching flights at NAIA ended up missing them, as the road was closed for around eight hours.
