Dismissed Marikina cop still reporting for work, receiving salary

How do these crazy scenarios happen?

“Marikina City policeman PO3 Angel B. Ergina was issued a summary dismissal order by National Capital Region Police Director Carmelo Espina Valmoria on June 17 for grave misconduct after failing a drug test and serious neglect of duty for going absent without leave (AWOL),” reports Madelynne Dominguez in Manila Bulletin.

However, Ergina currently still reports for duty from time to time at the Public Safety Unit of the Marikina Police Station. And, yes, he still gets his salary.

His fellow policemen are not happy about it. One even said, “Sarap nga po ng buhay niyan na dismissed na sumasahod pa at pasulpot sulpot na lang (He’s living the good life, already dismissed by still getting his salary while reporting for duty infrequently).”

In an interview with Manila Bulletin, Senior Supt. Vincent Calanoga “admitted the dismissed policeman was still receiving his salary but blamed higher-ups.”

Calanoga said that “people at the Philippine National Police headquarters should be blamed and the Human Relations Office should have been informed that the Ergina has been ordered dismissed from service.”
