DILG: No suspension order vs Marikina mayor

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has denied reports that Mayor Del de Guzman and two other government officials have been meted a six month suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman.

In an Inquirer News report, DILG-NCR Director Ma. Luisa Esquiviassia said her office would be the first to find out if the Ombudsman did issue such an order.  In May 2011, residents of North Rim View Park in Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina, filed a case against De Guzman, city transportation management and development office head Rommel Felipe, and then city engineer Alfonso Espiritu for not acting on their petition to remove a “boom gate” as well as a guardhouse located on Sunrise Street.
