Juan Miguel Zubiri, another senator, was speaking when a confused Villar suddenly said in Filipino, “What’s the answer to this, Dianne? Dianne?”

Other senators laughed at Villar’s confusion and a chuckling Zubiri told Senate President Vicente Sotto, “Mr. President, we’re having some technical difficulties with Senator Villar, so I move that Diane will be recognized, Mr. President.”

After a couple of seconds, Sotto said, “It’s alright now; she has muted her [microphone].”

The billionaire Villar has earned a rep for saying things that rub people the wrong way. In December, she appeared tone-deaf to the plight of ordinary Filipinos when she said the public should just eat vegetables if they find the fish galunggong too expensive.
