All we can do now is pray for Mary Jane Veloso.

“Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesman Charles Jose said the government has exhausted all legal and diplomatic remedies to save Veloso,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

When asked if all hope is lost for Veloso, Jose replied, “It seems so. Both approaches — the legal and diplomatic — have been closed. Legal — the second appeal was rejected and the diplomatic — there is already word from the Attorney General [of Indonesia]. Of course, we are greatly saddened by that development and of course our diplomats in Jakarta continue to do their jobs and [Philippine] Ambassador [Maria Lumen] Isleta went with the family to visit Mary Jane (on Monday).”

The report noted that “aside from Veloso, the other prisoners scheduled for execution include four Nigerians, two Australians, an Indonesian, and a Brazilian.”

Jose revealed that Consul General Robert Manalo will be present during the execution.

Meanwhile, as the report indicated, “personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Indonesia will be meeting with the Veloso family after the latter’s visit to Mary Jane to discuss post execution arrangements especially the repatriation of the remains.”

Veloso and the other drug convicts will no longer be able to receive visitors from 2pm (Indonesia time) on Tue, Apr 28.  The latest reports say they are now in isolation cells.
