FYI, Pinoy nurses.
“The Philippine embassy in Rome has received reports that a placement agency in Malta is recruiting Filipino nurses coming from Libya, Italy, and other countries and collecting recruitment fees in exchange for employment in the medical sector of Malta and the United Kingdom,” reports InterAksyon.com.
This prompted the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to issue a warning against such schemes.
The DFA explained that “the placement agencies in Malta that are accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) are only authorized to find jobs for Filipinos coming from the Philippines and mostly in the service sector (room attendants, cleaners, personal carers/caregivers, etc.) for placement in the said country.”
In its statement, the DFA pointed out: “No placement agency in Malta is authorized to find jobs for Filipino nurses coming from Libya, Italy, and other countries for employment in the medical sector of Malta and the UK, in compliance with existing policies. Filipino nurses cannot work as nurses in Malta and the UK without securing the necessary accreditation from the governments of said countries.”
For any further information on placement agencies recruiting Filipino nurses, those who are recruited are requested to contact the Assistance-to-Nationals Section of the Philippine embassy in Rome at 06-39746621 extension 207 or 224.
