DFA initial report: No Filipino casualities in Jakarta attack

According to the initial reports of the Department of Foreign Affairs, no Filipino was hurt in the Jakarta attack that happened early on Thursday morning, January 14.

“So far we have not received report of Filipinos affected by the explosion in Indonesia,” says DFA spokesperson Charles Jose in a statement.

The Philippine Embassy in Indonesia has been checking in with authorities to make sure all Filipinos are accounted for.

Six explosions were heard near the Sarinah building in Central Jakarta a little before noon on Thur, Jan 14. According to reports, the police even exchanged fire with gunmen.

In a Starbucks cafe later, three suicide bombers reportedly blew themselves up.

The police said four suspected attackers had been killed, Coconuts Jakarta reports.
