Luistro explained that “private schools may deviate from the DepEd’s school calendar provided that they notify the department in advance with regard to the deviation.”
He stated, “However, they may not start classes earlier than the first Monday of June and not later than the last day of August.” Luistro was citing the rules set by Republic Act 7797, which provided for the number of school days per school year.
