“Hoping that the message of Pope Francis on mercy and compassion would reverberate to its personnel, the Department of Education (DepEd) urged its officials, teachers and non-teaching staff to use the recent papal visit as a guide and inspiration to ‘touch more lives in providing inclusive education to everyone’ — especially to the poor,” reports Ina Hernando Malipot in Manila Bulletin.

In a statement related to Pope Francis’ visit, Education Secretary Armin Luistro said, “We are given the opportunity to aid in shaping the future of the youth. May we use this privilege to touch more lives in providing inclusive education to everyone, especially to the less fortunate of our countrymen.”
