The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with the Earth Day Network Philippines Inc. (EDNPI) launched a the Mini(mize) Carbon Olympics.
The competition will be among high schools and colleges in Metro Manila. The competition aims to educate the students in environmentally-safe practices to combat climate change. Among other things, the competition will teach how to audit for gas emissions and energy consumption, Inquirer News reported.
The winning school gets no prize, though, except knowing they are helping lower carbon emissions. “If they would be competing against each other, it would only be for bragging rights,” EDNPI executive director Voltaire Alferez said in the report.
