Authorities had an unexpected discovery during a drug buy-bust operation when they found a dead man’s body buried inside a drug den in Bacoor, Cavite early this morning.

The alleged drug den is a house undergoing construction located in the city’s Barangay (Village) San Nicolas 3, ABS-CBN News reported. The corpse was buried in a pit covered with cement underneath a sink. The police estimate that it had been there for around 2 months.

The police were in the house to conduct an anti-drug operation and arrested eight men. The suspects were identified as Jimmy Ecleo, John Gerald Sazar, Jhune Alexies Anthony, Albert Almojuela, Michael Angelo Ranay, Randy Abulencia, Alberto Diche, and Arsenio Amante, reported Radyo Inquirer.

They were allegedly caught with 18 packs of shabu (meth) that weighed 20.4 grams and are said to be worth PHP138,720 (US$2,699.16). Also confiscated were buy-bust money, a 9mm pistol, and two .38 caliber revolvers.

One of the suspects said that Ecleo, the group’s leader, killed the victim because the latter was allegedly a police asset. However, Ecleo has denied this.

Information about the victim’s death was said to have been going around as early as Holy Week in April. However, authorities allegedly could not enter the place because spotters were guarding it.
