Justice Secretary Leila de Lima is unfazed by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) protest.

The protest started on Thu, Aug 27, right outside her office at the Department of Justice (DOJ) complex in Manila and went on until Fri, Aug 28

INC members have accused de Lima of meddling into the church’s affairs and of giving special attention to the criminal charges filed by dismissed INC minister Isaias Samson Jr. against members of the INC Sanggunian.

“Ginagawa ko lang po ang aking trabaho. Wala po akong ibang motibo (I’m just doing my job. I don’t have any other motives),” De Lima said.

Malacañang said government has the duty to implement law and does not intend to meddle in the affairs of the Iglesia.

It said it trusts the expressions of dissent will continue to be peaceful and orderly and not disruptive.

Meanwhile, Samson’s lawyers described the INC protest as irrational. They also described INC’s action as a form of bullying.
They called on the INC to cooperate instead in the investigation and answer Samson’s allegations.

In his complaint, Samson said he and his family were placed under house arrest after he was accused of writing a blog that exposed alleged corruption within the INC. (ANC)
