Davao City unveils ‘Tree of Life’ memorial marker for blast victims

In Davao City, the “Tree of Life” memorial marker for the victims of the Sep 2 Roxas Avenue night market blast was unveiled on Tue, Oct 11.

The event reunited the survivors and the families of the 15 people who were killed in the blast.

“Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio was at the event, which was highlighted by a mass,” reports Edith Regalado in The Philippine Star.

Duterte-Carpio was quoted as saying, “We commit to forever remember the victims of the bombing and we vow to prevent similar acts of terrorism from happening again.”

The memorial, she said, would be a place “for prayer, peace, and remembrance.”
