Parents, limiting your child’s “screen time” would be a good idea.

A post by netizen Edgar Lising last month is currently going viral after he theorized that his child’s focal seizure was caused by excessive use of electronic gadgets.

The videos that Lising posted showed the child blinking rapidly and excessively. Another video also showed his mouth twitching.

The strange case has attracted quite a number of people, with Lising’s post being shared more than 44,000 times as of this writing.

In his post, Lising wrote: “Lord, please heal my child…Pls help us to pray for the fast recovery of my son….his (sic) suffering from FOCAL SEIZURE caused by excessive use of gadgets….”

According to a report by news show 24 Oras, the boy has undergone a CT scan and an electrocardiogram test at the Nueva Ecija Doctors’ Hospital. Both proved to be inconclusive as they did not show any underlying causes to the boy’s seizures.

The parents asked the doctors if the boy’s use of gadgets has anything to do with their son’s behavior.

In response, the doctors told them to simply minimize the boy’s use of gadgets. The doctors said there’s a possibility that the light coming from gadgets are causing the boy’s seizure.

While many of the netizens accepted Lising’s conclusions, a man by the name of Mark Ruiz wanted more details. He asked: “Pls. define specifically in terms of time what is excessive use of gadgets.”

Meanwhile, Ju Vi Lee is convinced that the seizures were indeed caused by excessive gadget use.

She wrote: “Everything done excessively is bad. I hope that is a lesson to us parents. There should be a limit, let’s not spoil children when using gadgets. There are outdoor activities that they can do which could make them healthier.”

Similar to Ruiz, Jyan Alice asked for more details. “What do you mean by excessive use? How many hours does he use gadgets? Please share more so that you can help other people,” she wrote.

Wisdom de Luna simply asked for “prayers” for the boy.
