Authorities are being urged crackdown and arrest manufacturers and sellers of deadly cyanide-laced silver jewelry cleaning products. The call comes after yet another suicide took her own life by drinking the solution over the weekend.
Eco Waste Coalition’s Project Protect Coordinator Thony Dizon raised alarm over the increasing number of accidental and intentional deaths caused by drinking silver cleaning solutions. On Saturday, a 15-year-old unwed mother committed suicide by drinking the cleaning solution in Binondo, Manila. The group cited nine reported suicides using silver cleaner from January to May this year, the Philippine Star reported.
