We can just imagine what else we could buy with PHP24 million.
“Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) six sacks of assorted drugs, with a street value of PHP24 million, hidden in parcels bound for other countries,” reports Evelyn Macairan in The Philippine Star.
According to NAIA customs district director Edgar Macabeo, “the drugs—methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, various types of sedatives and unlabeled tablets—were stashed in ladies’ shoes, denim pants, books, billiard cue cases, teddy bears, lotion bottles, and between documents in parcels.”
The report added that the confiscated drugs “were in parcels that were supposed to be sent by three courier firms to Europe, Middle East, and South Africa.”
