Demoralized Bureau of Customs (BOC) employees took to wearing black armbands over accusations made by no less than President Aquino that customs personnel are corrupt and inefficient.
In a news conference , some 20 members of Bureau of Customs Employees Association (Bocea) represented by their President, Romulo Pagulayan, said Bocea members are sporting armbands to express their disappointment over the President’s remarks. Pagulayan said the President’s generalizations were “very disgraceful and humiliating.”He added that the accusations “demoralized all officers and employees of the BOC,” Inquirer News reported.
Additionally, the 3,000 member – strong employees union said they will oppose alleged government plans to privatize the BOC.
