The alleged Facebook posts of a Bureau of Customs (BOC) data encoder named Roussel Tan recently went viral and attracted hordes of haters.

In the said posts (check screengrabs below), Tan defends the inspection of balikbayan boxes and even slams some overseas Filipinom workers (OFWs) for not supposedly not comprehending the rules and regulations governing balikbayan boxes.

The anti-OFW Facebook post reads (edited for clarity): “Dami talaga utak talangka na OFW.

Translation: “There are many OFWs with crab mentality. You don’t try to understand things before they speak. All you know is gossip and imitation, so you aren’t successful in the Philippines. You don’t have brains. It’s good for you to be in other countries because the Philippines doesn’t need you…”

Now, though, Tan is saying that the Facebook account that bore the incendiary posts was fake. As far as I know, I am not that sort of person. I can’t be cruel to OFWs because I have family members who are OFWs),” she said.

Tan said she got alarmed when the fake Facebook account posted images of her identification cards and details that exposed her kids as well. Tan has sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation’s Cybercrime Division to help nab the person who faked her Facebook account. (from a Bandila report)
