Cristina Romualdez apologizes for daughter’s nasty tweet vs. Leni Robredo

In tweet dated May 10, Sofia Romualdez — the 16-year-old daughter of newly elected Tacloban City Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez — had some nasty words directed at Rep. Leni Robredo.

Sofia was apparently overcome with emotion over the fact that Robredo was leading the vice presidential race. Sofia’s father is outgoing Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, who is the first cousin of Sen. Bongbong Marcos, the other top contender in the VP race.

Sofia, who is said to be getting offers from talent agents to do modeling and/or join showbiz, tweeted: “putangina leni bobo naman yan walang alam yan tangina nyo (Whore-mother Leni is dumb she knows nothing you whore-mothers).”

Sofia later took down her tweet and apologized. “What I said about Leni was out of frustration and anger. I’m human and I make mistakes too, I’m sorry if I offended anyone,” she tweeted. Her Twitter account was later deactivated.

However, screenshots of Sofia’s nasty tweet had spread. Her mother then posted an apology in her behalf on Facebook. Cristina wrote: “In behalf of my daughter Sofia, I apologize for such words she tweeted about Leny. As a mother and most especially as a Christian, I do NOT approve of such words. She is very apologetic and is learning. Sofia is 16 so I believe she didn’t realize what she was doing. I have met Leny when we went to the wake of her husband and I know she does not deserve such words. Sofia already apologized so I hope we all forgive and love her. She is still very young. May God bless our country. Please pray for each other and love and forgive.”
