Crime rate reportedly down in 5 Metro Manila areas

Are we supposed to just take their word for it?

“National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief director Carmelo Valmoria said crime incidents in five areas in Metro Manila have decreased because police station commanders were implementing their action plan in the ‘war against crime,'” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.

These are the five areas:

1. Monumento, Caloocan City

2. Baclaran, Pasay

3. University Belt in Manila

4. Kalentong, Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong

5. EDSA corner Aurora Boulevard, and E. Rodriguez Avenue in Quezon City

Valmoria was quoted as saying, “The crime volume in these areas went down significantly. The number of homicide and murder cases also went down. Theft and robbery cases fluctuated in several areas but we are addressing them.”

Unfortunately, the NCRPO chief did not release figures to illustrate his good news.
