At around 6am on Wed, Dec 7, it was reported that a suspected improvised explosive device was found near Manila City Hall.
“In a dzMM interview, Superintendent Romeo Desiderio of Manila Police District Station 5 said that an explosive ordnance disposal team found that the supposed IED had no actual bomb components,” reports Philstar.com.
Desiderio stated, “Wiring lang saka, yun lang, cellphone plus yung dynamite-type na paper. Nananakot lang yung naglagay. Nagbibiro (It was just made up of wires, a cellphone, and dynamite-type paper. Whoever placed it there wanted to scare people. Or was just playing a prank).”
The area was declared safe by around 7am.
The report noted: “Police will review security camera footage for clues on who left the fake bomb.”
