A joint operation of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Metropolitan Manila Development Area intercepted illegal buses, taxis, and other public utility vehicles on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue on Thursday.
LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez and MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino led the operation, called “Oplan Goliath”, which involved flagging down public utility vehicles to check their franchises against an LTFRB database.
Vehicles without franchises, called colorum, will be impounded for three months. Operators will have three months to fix their franchise papers or have their vehicles confiscated.
The LTFRB and MMDA plan to do similar operations along other major roads in Metro Manila.
