Couple shot dead in QC motel room

This is as brutal as it gets.

“According to Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, it was unclear who pulled the trigger of the gun that killed Aiza Cortez, 27, of Pangasinan and Ryan Guibon, 31, of General Santos City,” reports Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.

Cortez and Guibon had reportedly checked into the Taxi Line Apartelle at past 6pm on Thursday, Jan 9, and were due to leave on Friday afternoon, Jan 10. So, at around 4pm on Friday, motel employee Ignalyn Cabelin went to Room 26 to inform the couple that it was time for them to check out. She knocked on the door and was frightened when she thought she heard a shot from the room. She ran away. She later realized that she had been hit by a bullet on her right leg. She sought help from the motel’s cashier, who brought her to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC).

The police found two guns, at least six sachets of shabu in a bag, and eight more tea bags of shabu in the room. They explained that “a .22 caliber homemade revolver with a bullet and two spent shells were found on the toilet’s water tank, while a .45 caliber pistol with an empty magazine, a spent shell and a fired bullet were seen near Guibon’s body in the bathroom.” Cortez, who was also shot in the head, was found lying on the bedroom floor.
