Corona’s daughter may be charged with tax evasion

The family of former Chief Justice Renato Corona may have to brace itself for an added case against another member.

“The Department of Justice has found probable cause to indict (Corona’s daughter), Carla Corona Castillo, of tax evasion. Corona himself is facing tax evasion charges for failing to declare bank deposits and real properties,” reports ANC.

The report explained that “the case stems from Carla’s 2008 and 2009 income tax return, where she declared an income of PHP228,000.”

However, as the report noted, “in 2010, carla purchased a property in La Vista, Quezon City worth PHP18 million, for which she also paid a documentary stamp tax of more than PHP300,000.”
