What a bust.
“On Mon, Jul 18, police uprooted more than 5,000 full-grown marijuana plants in a hinterland farm surrounded by huge forest trees in Barangay Sapad in Matanog, Maguindanao,” reports John Unson on Philstar.com.
The raiding team was made up of personnel from the Matanog municipal police office, local officials, and barangay leaders.
Senior Inspector Ronald de Leon — spokesperson of the regional police office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao — revealed that the raiding team doused the uprouted plants in kerosene and set them on fire. Their estimated worth was around PHP300,000.
The alleged owner of the farm is still at large. He has also been accused of peddling shabu in the town of Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur.
The report noted: “Local commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front had assured authorities they will help locate the suspect.”
