Police nabbed P6 million worth of marijuana at a checkpoint in Benguet earlier this week.

Kapangan municipal police station officers flagged down a Mitsubishi Montero, which turned out to contain marijuana upon inspection.

According to the PNP Cordillera Facebook page, police arrested three drug suspects, one of whom was carrying a firearm.

Aside from the millions worth of marijuana, police also confiscated the gun, a caliber .45 pistol, as well as the vehicle.

The suspects will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The drug-toting individual will also be charged with the violation of the Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar directed a follow-up investigation to identify the source of the marijuana, as well as its distribution networks.
