Cops raid ‘Spider Fight Club’ in Valenzuela City, marijuana also found

In Valenzuela City, there’s a house in Barangay Marulas that has been hosting spider fights for some time. The participants of what we call the “Spider Fight Club” get excited when their chosen spiders are in battle, so they shout.

The village’s other residents — who are just not that into seeing spiders fight — have been complaining about the noise coming from the house hosting the spider derby. On Thu, Mar 10, cops finally raided the spider derby house.

“The raid resulted in the arrest of several bettors  bettors who were slapped with violation of P.D. No. 1602 (illegal gambling). The house owner was charged with violation of RA 9165 for alleged possession of one plastic sachet of suspected marijuana leaves,” reports Ed Mahilum in Manila Bulletin.

Sr. Inspector Jose R. Hizon, chief, of the Valenzuela police’s Station Investigation Unit, added that they also recovered from the scene some cash and at least eight bamboo sticks, which were used for the spider fights.
