Nothing says “red light district” more than a report announcing that the police have decided to focus on the area.
“On Tuesday, April 29, Makati police chief Sr. Supt. Manuel Lukban Jr. said that more than 20 additional policemen have been deployed to patrol the Burgos-Makati Avenue-Kalayaan Triangle, a popular nighttime entertainment area in Barangay Poblacion,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.
Police say this was done to ensure the safety and protection of tourists and visitors in the area. The district, as the report points out, “caters to an average of 100 to 300 nighttime tourists on regular days, and 500 on weekends and special event days.”
