A member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Intelligence Group was shot dead this morning along a road just a stone’s throw away from the PNP’s national headquarters Camp Crame.

Staff Sergeant Fernando Diamzon, 49, was shot dead by two gunmen at around 8:50am today, reported The Philippine Daily Inquirer. It happened along Col. Bonny Serrano Ave. in the village of Bagong Lipunan in Quezon City.

Diamzon had just finished work at Camp Crame and was driving his own motorcycle to go home to Manila when he was shot, reported RMN. He died at the scene of the crime, where investigators recovered seven bullets.

The assailants were onboard a motorcycle that did not have a license plate, reported ABS-CBN News. Both of the suspects were wearing helmets when they committed the crime, making them unidentifiable.

The PNP is currently investigating the case and will analyze the CCTV footage from the area. They have also started a manhunt to search for the suspects who fled the crime scene.
