Cop shoots man dead over traffic tiff, 2 others wounded

“Violence broke out in Barangay La Huerta, Parañaque City, at around 6:40am on Tuesday, Dec 31, leaving the village’s executive officer Armando Concepcion dead and two others wounded,” reports Jaymee T. Gamil in the Philippine Daily Inquirer

The incident started when PO1 Michael Davila of the Aviation Security Group, a resident of Parañaque’s Barangay Don Galo resident, was reprimanded by Concepcion. The report explained that “Davila and his live-in partner were at the La Huerta public market, cutting through the crowded marketplace on their motorcycle, when Concepcion and another watchman, Jose Concepcion, told them off for going the wrong way on a one-way street.”

Armando and Davila soon got into an argument. Davila then drew his service firearm. This made Concepcion panic, so he tried to grab the gun from Davila. During the struggle, the gun went off and Davila’s live-in partner, Maria Rosario Loares, got hit in the head. Seeing this, Davila became enraged and shot Armando. He also shot Jose.

Armando died at Parañaque District Hospital in La Huerta. Loares remains in critical condition at Perpetual Help hospital in Las Piñas. Jose is at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay. Davila is in jail.
