“PO1 Niño Fuentes — a policeman assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office-Regional Public Safety Battalion in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City — was arrested by members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for allegedly pointing a gun at a 24-year-old woman in Quezon City on Thursday, March 19,” report Francis T. Wakefield and Betheena Kae Unite in Tempo.
Reports reaching the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the suspect as PO1 Niño Fuentes, married, of Samar and Mapagmahal St., Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City.
According to the QCPD, the incident happened at about 10:15pm in a carinderia on Mapagmahal Street. The victim, Manilyn Fernandez, 24, was tending the carinderia of her mother together with an assistant Arnel Gatela when Fuentes passed by holding a gun.
The report noted: “Fernandez saw Fuentes cocking his gun as he was walking. Moments later, Fuentes returned to the carinderia still holding his gun and again cocked and pointed it at her. After a few moments, Fuentes left and Fernandez informed her mother, Edna, of the incident. They reported the incident to the Philippine National Police Hotline 117. Fuentes was arrested afterwards by the QCPD Station 10 in Kamuning.”
