Is this really necessary?
“Arches that spell out the words ‘Welcome to Quezon City, the City of Stars’ in 10 of the city’s major entry points,” reports Jeannette I. Andrade in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Mind you, Quezon City was officially recognized as the “City of Stars” in an October 1998 council resolution.
The report revealed that on Monday, Mar 24, the city council approved on third and final reading a resolution on the installation of the arches “to instill pride in residents.”
The areas where the arches will be set up are the following:
1. Batasan-San Mateo Road
2. Quirino Highway
3. General Luis Street which is the boundary of Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon and Caloocan City north
4. Edsa, particularly at the boundaries of Unang Sigaw-Balingasa and Caloocan City south, Quezon City, Mandaluyong and Pasig
5. North Diversion Road
6. Mindanao Avenue
7. Quezon Avenue
8. Aurora Boulevard, particularly at the boundaries of Doña Imelda and San Juan City
9. Loyola Heights
10. Marikina City (boundary)
