Convict sells drugs outside Sablayan Penal Colony in Palawan

by Atom Araullo, ABS-CBN News

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima on Mon, Apr 20, said she is shocked and “pissed off” about news of another convicted criminal selling drugs outside the Sablayan Penal Colony in Palawan.

News reports earlier said convicted drug lord Ruben Tiu and an unnamed prison guard were caught selling P1 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) to two undercover agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) outside the penal colony last April 17.

“It shows that some of the guards are really vulnerable, kasi sinamahan pa siya nung isa eh,” De Lima said.

De Lima gave credit to the National Bureau of Investigation for launching the buy-bust operation that helped catch Tiu who was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2004.

She said she is still waiting for the results of the investigation, but promised that “heads will roll.”
