Congressman’s son accused of punching 66-year-old jeepney driver

This one’s a contender for the road rage hall of fame.

A lawyer named King George Leandro Antonio Collantes, the son of Batangas 3rd District Rep. Sonny Collantes, is being accused of mauling 66-year-old jeepney driver Orlando Garcia during a traffic altercation. The smackdown happened on Tuesday, Oct 29, in the middle of San Rafael Street in Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City.

“Garcia is filing a physical injuries complaint against the younger Collantes whom he claims hit him several times,” reports ABS-CBNNews.com. Garcia is likewise planning to file a complaint against him at the Department of Social Welfare and Development because his nine-year-old grandson, who was present during the mauling, was reportedly “traumatized” by the encounter.

According to the information in the police blotter, “Collantes claimed that Garcia grabbed his phone while he was using it, causing him to accidentally hit Garcia’s eye.” *However, there’s a video clip that seems to show the congressman’s son repeatedly punching Garcia who was inside his jeepney.

The report said that “the Collantes camp has refused to issue a statement when sought for comment by ABS-CBN News.”
