If it happens, call us and we’ll be there, too.
“Rep. Silvestre Bello III recently renewed calls for President Benigno Aquino III to visit Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo GMA, former president and current Pampanga congresswoman, at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in the name of reconciliation and national unity,” reports Maricel Cruz in Manila Standard Today.
The report explained that former President and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and retired Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz, both critics of Arroyo, had already visited her. The ex-president seems to be getting a lot of love these days. Former Vice President Noli de Castro and teleevangelist Eddie Villanueva have also gone to visit her, while retired archbishop Oscar Cruz has defended her. Arroyo’s health is said to be deteriorating.
“It would be a good gesture if the President visits her. But I would also understand if he decides otherwise,” Bello said.
So, what does PNoy have to say about this?
Well, as Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Sonny Coloma put it, “It’s not a priority of the President at this point.”
In other words, he’s never going to visit her.
