He got shot down before his proposal went any higher.
“Isabela Rep. Rodolfo Albano III proposed a measure seeking to legalize the use of marijuana but ‘under a very strict regulation for medicinal purposes,'” reports Maricel Cruz in Manila Standard Today.
Albano emphasized that his proposal “needs further study.” However, he had said in an interview, “If you legalize it, you deglamorize the drug.” His suggestion is just in time, as the U.S. state of Colorado recently legalized the sale of marijuana for recreational purposes.
But House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny Belmonte, Jr. wants to show Albano that this ain’t Colorado. He has already struck down any proposal in the House that seeks to legalize the use and cultivation of cannabis sativa, more known as marijuana.
