Commuter hell: MRT glitch causes long lines

We gotta hand it to the The Metro Rail Transit (MRT), it’s consistent.

“MRT-3 again suffered from a technical glitch on Wednesday, Jan 8 triggering long lines during the morning rush hour,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report cited MRT General Manager Al Vitangcol, who revealed that “a defect was detected at a portion of the railway system between Buendia and Guadalupe stations.” As such, “the railway system’s trips were limited between North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard stations from 6:25am to 6:57am.” Well, 32 minutes translates to hell on earth for MRT riders.

Meanwhile, Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera, through his official Twitter account, explained that “the disruption of MRT operations and the re-routing of traffic in preparation for the Feast of the Black Nazarene caused the passenger volume in Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) to spike.”

Maybe we should call on the patron saint of trains to help us with this problem. (Is there a patron saint of trains?)
